It will not lead you to having the best gear for your money. That will only lead you to having the most popular & most Guitar Center marketed gear.
Just don't fall into the "I see this unit in everyone else's studio, so it must be a good unit" trap. What's your price range? Maybe we can give you some other options. and some better than MBox 3 for the same price. There's actually a PLETHORA of options better than 003. since some people can get a good sound out of a USB mic!) you should be able to accomplish practically the same with a Mackie Control Universal Pro) and 3) they don't get a fantastic sound from the unit, but maybe they know how to turn properly polish a turd to make it not so much a turd. If you're seeing a unch of 003 consoles it's b/c 1) The person links using Pro Tools (and may likely be using an old version b/c they don't want to upgrade) 2) it's got a control surface which is a benefits (however. MAudio's gone a loonng way in the quality department. It was basically an entryway into Pro Tools, and is nowhere close to the Pro Tools HD hardware. and was never built to be a good sounding unit. hey sometimes u gotta move on.MBox 3 Pro should be a much better sounding unit than the 003. i sold my 002 control board just to get the new mbox. wouldnt say it tops it 100% but because its new i think it'll give me better quality. in every area something is gonna mature no matter what it is, and from my understanding the mbox 3 is pretty much better in certain ways. i dont wanna take a chance on some old features that something new could possibly top all day, just because new things happen. its just that their both 2 old and not even being made anymore. i mean nothin against the 003 because i had the 002 and i feel in love with it. after hearing more people say the mbox pro is much better i decided to purchase the new mbox.
better converter and time clock, which makes sense in allota ways. i heard that from hundreds of people, they say thats the main thing that stands out about it. but from my understanding the converters are about 5 years better then the digi 003. well to answer your question im using any instruments, just recording audio.
